Tyvek®: An Impact Performer
Just Got More ActiveTyvek® offers distinct advantages over paper for active packaging. In fact, Tyvek® brand materials combine the best properties of paper, film and fabric - thanks to their exceptional strength . . . excellent durability . . . and high porosity. For years, desiccant manufacturers have counted on packets and bags made of Tyvek® to give them the rapid moisture absorption they need to keep a variety of products dry. What's more, Tyvek® is a chemically inert material that won't rot or mildew. For active packaging, styles without corona treatment and antistat coating typically are used (that is, styles with a "B[L]" suffix). That's because only untreated styles of Tyvek® meet the requirements of the FDA for direct food-contact applications where temperatures do not exceed 212°F (100°C). Also, these styles have been tested and meet the Military Specification (MIL-D-3464E) for activated, desiccant packaging. Thanks to a new, lighter basis weight style of Tyvek® created specifically for desiccant manufacturers, you have a more cost-effective option when less strength, but greater permeability and improved visual aesthetics are required. This expanded product line gives you a range of styles of Tyvek® material to meet the varied demands of the active packaging marketplace.
